Word Art

Since I was small, my mother diligently looked for creative outlets for her artistic daughter.  It was no surprise then, that one Christmas morning I opened my very first set of fountain calligraphy pens.  My mother always loved the beautiful writing Calligraphers could produce with a seemingly ordinary pen.  Had she known then that the inky mess they made of her daughter would be the beginning of a love that has lasted the rest of my life.

So commonplace in everyday life not long ago, calligraphy has now been elevated to special occasions.  There are a million styles out there, one to suit every taste.  Like snowflakes, calligraphers are all different, with different styles all their own.  I stumbled across Dayna Bischof, The Calligraphy Lady, in my never ending quest for inspirational calligraphic work, and she never lets me down.  Via her website, she presents gorgeous wedding invitations that are hand lettered as if plucked from the pages of time.
